Cepsa has been recognized as the winner of the 5th edition of the Iberian Lawyer Gold Awards in the category 'Energy & Renewables–Team of the Year'. This award evidences the excellence of the company's legal team, which positions it as a leader in the field of legal advice in the energy sector in Spain and Portugal.
The awards, which this year are celebrating their fifth edition, aim to highlight the quality of in-house lawyers and compliance officers in Spain and Portugal, in areas related to management of legal, tax, financial and human resources matters.
During the awards ceremony, Iberian Lawyer recognized the work carried out by Cepsa's in-house team, which operates in several jurisdictions where the company is present, supporting the development and management of the company's assets with flexibility and an open mentality, according to the organization of these awards. For the jury, the team's business knowledge and involvement in commercial aspects are an excellent added value, particularly in the current process of accelerating the energy transition.
Those in charge of collecting the award on behalf of the company were María Gil, Cepsa's head of litigation, Natalia Bódalo, head of legal advice for the Exploration and Production area, Isabel Heredia, head of legal advice for the Renewables, Gas, and Electricity area, and Ruth Breitenfeld, head of legal advice for the Trading area.
In addition to Cepsa, companies such as Accenture, Amazon, Banco Santander, BNP Paribas and Mercedes Benz España, among others, have also been recognized for their work in different areas. The selection of the winners was based on a market study carried out by internationally recognized lawyers and law firms.
The presentation of the awards was the closing ceremony of the Legal Day organized by Iberian Lawyer, a day in which a series of round tables were also held to discuss issues related to the sector. In one of these talks, Ruth Breitenfeld reflected on the importance of the correct internal organization of a firm's legal department, detailing the common points on which any company must work and the possibilities offered by the current context to the legal team of organizations.
The head of legal advice in the Trading area at Cepsa emphasized in her talk that "in-house legal advice must provide not only a clear and adequate legal framework, but also offer legal solutions that add value to the company. This is achieved by being perfectly familiar with the needs of each area and business, as well as with an innovative and proactive attitude."
