Climate change
We are committed to taking the necessary climate actions to accelerate the energy transition and move towards a low-carbon economy. We are constantly looking for new energy solutions and more efficient technologies that will enable us to reduce our emissions.
Control of emissions
Reducing emissions is our main objective in contributing to the mitigation of climate change. In addition to strictly controlling emissions from our facilities, we strive to constantly improve the energy efficiency of our processes and incorporate the best technologies for that purpose. We also work every day to develop more sustainable products for our customers.
A commitment that goes further
Beyond the international standards and European regulations, we voluntarily and transparently report on the management practices implemented in the area of climate change, as well as the main performance, risk and opportunity indicators, through our participation in initiatives such as the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), improving reporting under TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) recommendations, and where in 2021 we have maintained the A- Leadership category. We have also implemented internal energy management systems to control consumption, and we promote awareness-raising actions among our professionals.

Our carbon footprint
We verify and report emissions at the organizational level. This inventory, conducted under international standards, includes direct and indirect CO2 emissions, as well as other gases such as CH4, N2O and refrigerant gases. It also includes indirect emissions in the value chain corresponding to 12 Scope 3 categories under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. In 2020, we also completed certification under this standard for all Exploration and Production assets reported in our annual report.
HOW TO DEVELOP A DECARBONIZATION PLAN
Together with the Spanish Association of Sustainability Managers (DIRSE) we present our toolkit on decarbonization, entitled: "How to develop a decarbonization plan".
The document is aimed at sustainability professionals involved in decarbonization projects. Its objective is to provide them with tools to help them improve their environmental performance.
