This proactive approach reflects Cepsa's determination to contribute to environmental sustainability and demonstrates its aim to lead the development of sustainable practices in the energy sector. To evaluate, verify and monitor the results of its projects and their effects on biodiversity, the company will collaborate with external institutions and use methodologies verified by these institutions. Furthermore, the company will identify, analyze and implement actions to improve biodiversity by working with the Biodiversity Board, a cross-cutting team that engages various areas and specialists in the company, to ensure that projects have a positive and beneficial impact on the environment.

Under its Positive Motion strategy and Sustainability Plan, Cepsa has focused its environmental commitments on three key areas of the circular economy: water, waste, and biodiversity. In addition to the biodiversity commitment that the company is presenting today, the energy company aims to reduce freshwater withdrawal in water-stressed areas by 20% by 2025 and increase the circularity intensity of its waste by 50% by 2030, both with respect to the levels in 2019.
Positive impact on the environment
In the field of renewable energies, Cepsa has the program 'Sumamos Energías', which promotes collaboration with the town councils of the areas where renewable projects are to be installed, by carrying out initiatives that generate value and promote the socioeconomic development and natural capital of the municipality. This program is based on co-design and transparent and proactive dialogue, with the aim of creating a tractor effect in the territory and maximum social and environmental integration. Each of these lines of action involves different initiatives adapted to the nature of the projects and to the needs of each locality.
