- Cepsa invests 2.5 million to build a new water treatment plant
- The energy park has several initiatives underway to reduce water consumption and maximize reuse
The water treated at this plant will be adequate for reuse in the power plant’s cooling towers. Its start-up is scheduled for next year and involves an initial investment of 2.5 million euros. This project is considered a priority, and for this reason a decision was made to expedite the plant’s construction and deployment, as part of the San Roque Energy Park's commitment to improving water management and reducing its environmental footprint.
Another development involves the Drought Plan, monitored by the Community of Municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar. A program was started up here to boost all the activities in the industrial center aimed at saving water. Immediate measures have been implemented to achieve a 10% reduction in consumption based on the optimization of water use in the cooling towers; water consumption in steam generation is also being optimized and other possibilities are being studied.
Finally, through the BRIO program (the internal management program for operational excellence), measures that could help save water in the industrial center are being identified, as well as awareness-raising campaigns to reduce water consumption as much as possible.
The director of the San Roque Energy Park, Jose Antonio Agüera, has highlighted "our commitment to environmental protection, the circular economy, and the optimization of natural resources. Saving water and improving the way that we manage it is a priority for all of us at the San Roque Energy Park, where we are aware that it is a valuable and scarce resource. We will continue to work along these lines.”
