Shanghai Chemicals Plant
The inauguration of our first chemicals plant in Asia made us the world's leading producer of cumene and the second in phenol and acetone.
How did we do it?
Together with 2,000 professionals we built this plant in a little over 2 years. It was also the largest investment by a Spanish company in China. The project not only gave us access to this country, the largest consumer of phenol in the world, but also stregthened our position as international leaders in the chemicals sector.
The result
The plant has a production capacity of 250,000 tons of phenol, and 150,000 tons of acetone. The work of our professionals and its design and efficiency was recognized by the World Refining Association, which selected the plant as Best Petrochemical Plant of the Year at its Petrochemicals Awards of Excellence.
