We are developing new catalytic processes to create aromatic hydrocarbons and olefins.
In light of the need to decarbonize the economy, propane and butane are expected to be gradually phased out of domestic use. With this project, we are making use of these gases to create aromatic raw materials and olefins.
To produce them, we are developing new catalytic processes with catalytic dehydrogenation and aromatization. Cepsa’s role is to validate the final product and contribute to the demonstration of the technology. To this end, we work on a pilot plant experimental plan at Cepsa Research Center facilities of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).
The Bizeolcat project aims to increase the value of inexpensive raw materials for chemicals by synthesizing new catalysts and using membrane reactors. The project will be executed by a consortium of European research institutions and companies, with a total budget of 6.571.838 €. The Bizeolcat project has been financed under the European Commission Topic H2020-NMBP-24-2018. It will be developed between 2019 and 2022.
Future demand will lead chemical to produce less fuel and more chemicals.
