We are innovating in the grease processing system to produce biofuel sustainably.
The Flexiwaste project aims to develop a new process to refine, purify, and process grease waste and use it as a base material in the production of double-counted biofuels.
Cepsa is responsible for validating the co-processing of used frying oils in the hydrotreatment units, which replaces plants such as palm, soy, or rapeseed.
This project’s objective is to reduce the environmental impact compared to conventional oils (deforestation, inadequate land use, and CO2 emissions from intensive farming), by using alternative raw materials. To this end, oils and greases not suitable for food are used.
This is a collaborative project with the Bio-Oils and Clariant companies financed by the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
