- These facilities will be located along the main corridors connecting the Peninsula with the rest of Europe and will have different services catered to transport professionals including guarded parking, a rest area, changing rooms, showers, dining, shops and refueling
- Through this initiative, promoted by the Fleets & CRT business, Cepsa seeks to improve drivers’ quality of life and ensure their well-being on their routes
- The project is in line with the European Union's demand for the roll out of safe spaces where drivers can take their legally required breaks, with Spain among the countries with the fewest spaces of this kind
- Cepsa's Truck Villages will be 'women-friendly' spaces that ensure the well-being and safety of its female users, providing them with specific changing rooms and showers for women, which can be accessed from the store area for greater security and privacy
- Cepsa's first Truck Village was inaugurated in Meco (Madrid) and will have the EU's SSTPA (Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area) certification, which guarantees high safety standards and comprehensive services
Cepsa's Truck Villages will provide drivers with a comprehensive solution, bringing together essential services such as fenced and guarded parking lots 24 hours a day, rest areas, changing rooms, showers, dining spaces, a truck washing service, a store with supplies catered to their needs, and refueling, among others, all in one place. Users of these spaces will be able to book their spots through the Starressa app and access the site thanks to the license plate recognition systems.
The initiative is in line with the European Union's demand for these types of safe parking areas where drivers can take their legally required breaks, with Spain being one of the countries with the fewest number of these spaces available. Cepsa's first Truck Village opened in Meco (Madrid) and will have the SSTPA (Safe and Secure Truck Parking Area) safe area certification that’s granted by the EU, which guarantees high safety standards and comprehensive services. The company's objective is to set up more than 20 facilities of this type throughout the main logistics nodes and corridors linking the Peninsula with the rest of the continent over the course of this decade.
Cedric Vigneau, Cepsa's Director of Fleets & CRT, said: “We want to ensure the dignity of the essential work that drivers do and improve their quality of life, offering them comfortable, safe spaces with various services that are catered to their needs, where they can rest without having to leave their route. Through this new experience, we want to encourage new profiles to enter the professional transport sector, especially young people and women.”
In order to make these spaces comfortable and safe for drivers, these facilities will have changing rooms and showers specifically for women, which will be accessed from the store area instead of from the outside, for greater security and user privacy.
Cepsa, honored as a 'Truck Friendly' company
