Cepsa and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell have extended their existing sponsorship agreement and the energy company will continue to be one of the main supporters of the tournament for more than 20 years. In addition, Cepsa will contribute to the sustainability plan developed by the tournament and will make its energy solutions for mobility available to the tournament organization's electric and hybrid vehicles.
The new agreement is in line with the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell's 'Play for the Planet' objectives and demonstrates Cepsa's commitment to reducing emissions and caring for the planet. Cepsa is a leading international company committed to sustainable mobility and energy with solid technical experience after more than 90 years of activity. The company has recently presented its new strategic plan for 2030, Positive Motion, which projects its ambition to be a leader in sustainable mobility, biofuels and green hydrogen in Spain and Portugal, and to become an example in the energy transition. In this decade, the company will reduce its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 55%, and scope 3 emissions by between 15% and 20%, with the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
In the field of mobility, Cepsa is developing the largest electric mobility ecosystem in Spain and Portugal, together with Endesa, deploying the widest network of ultra-fast road charging, with 150 kW chargers every 200 kilometers on the main roads and intercity. This equipment will allow users to recharge 80% of the battery of their electric vehicles in approximately 10 minutes.
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will be held on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 from April 16 to 24, 2022 and tickets are available through the official tournament website www.barcelonaopenbancsabadell.com.
