- The Chair will have two main lines of action, research and training focused on IoT technologies and Industry X as part of a commitment to digitalization and added value in the energy sector
- The initiative strengthens Moeve's presence in the city of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), which is home to the company's Innovation Center. Innovation projects, which play a key role in the company’s objective of becoming an energy transition leader, are developed at the center
Moeve and the Universidad de Alcalá have launched a Chair on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry X (robotic systems, additive manufacturing, hyperconnectivity, etc.) to promote research and development related to digitalization in the energy sector. This initiative is based on knowledge and innovation related to new technologies and helps develop talent specialized in the use of advanced digital tools, which are key aspects to accelerate the energy transition.
The Chair focuses on areas such as autonomous robotics, additive manufacturing, and artificial intelligence embedded in devices. Through this collaboration, Moeve and the Universidad de Alcalá will define two main lines of action: on one hand, innovation projects and, on the other hand, training, mainly through bachelor’s and master's level courses, with real use cases provided by the energy company. In addition, the company will attract talent through scholarship and internship programs, and will also supervise bachelor's and master's theses that are applicable to Moeve.
When signing the agreement to create this Chair, David Villaseca, Chief Digital Officer at Moeve, stated: "Collaboration with academic institutions, such as the Universidad de Alcalá, plays an essential role in driving innovative solutions that accelerate the transformation of the energy sector. This Chair reinforces our commitment to young people's talent and allows us to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to lead the future of our society”.
In the words of José Vicente Saz, rector of the Universidad de Alcalá: "This university was one of the first to offer environmental science studies in Spain. At the time, this was a pioneering move and we have been committed to sustainability, energy transition, and digitalization on our campuses for more than 30 years. This alliance between two entities with extensive experience in new energies and sustainability can only bring good results”.
Within the framework of innovation projects, this Chair at the UAH will monitor emerging technological trends and establish related lines of research. In addition, strategic alliances and participation in calls for tender will be promoted in relevant areas. Similarly, the Chair will identify any third-party projects that Moeve could join as a partner, strengthening its role in key digitalization and energy transition initiatives.
As part of its commitment to innovation and the development of talent, Moeve works with various universities to promote the integration of digital technologies in the energy transition, driving it forward through a green digital approach with agreements like this one. The company has a digitalization plan that aims to accelerate this energy transition and be a driver of growth for businesses through the use of data and technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain.
Furthermore, the alliance with the UAH reasserts Moeve's commitment to the city of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), where its Innovation Center is located. In this Center, the company develops innovation projects that are key to driving forward the Positive Motion plan, with the goal of leading the energy transition and being at the forefront of green molecule production and sustainable mobility.
