WE HAVE CARRIED OUT TRIALS WITH DRONES TO IMPROVE SAFETY IN MARITIME FACILITIES
We continue to back innovation and continuous improvement in our industrial centers. This commitment has led us to using nautical drones, which increase the precision and safety of wetland inspections.
HOW DID WE DO IT?
We wanted to find out if using nautical drones would increase safety when inspecting port facilities, particularly at our San Roque refinery. To do this we tested two different models of drone provided by Azisa, a company specializing in the application of unmanned technologies in the industry.
The first drone is a catamaran-type unmanned underwater vehicle designed for working in wharfs or ports. This drone has allowed us to remotely and safely access the lower areas of the wharf's pipe area and see every part of the structure. The second drone is also an underwater vehicle, and can reach depths of up to 300 meters and complete journeys of up to 800 meters. It also has a robotic arm that enables it to complete maintenance tasks such as collecting samples or removing objects.
THE RESULT
These tests have proven that drone technology will help us to improve efficiency and safety across all the operations in our industrial centers and maritime facilities. Furthermore, it will allow us to continue to be a technological leader in a sector where technology and safety are increasingly intertwined.
